Nature’s Elegance
by Shannon F. Cantrell

"The overall inspiration you see in my flower presentation is the reflection of who I believe we are as floral designers. How far we have come creatively and the effects we can have on the industry today. My definition of art begins with the word passion. Art can be painting, sculpting, or flowers but we must have the passion to want to take our art to the next level. Art is meant to open your eyes to the beautiful world around us."

Over 10’ tall, this design was suspended from a base structure of bamboo. Two oasis rings provide the water source for buckets and buckets of flowers. The close you looked, the more you would find. It wasn’t until, the next day that I found the lovely blueberry branches complete with green blue berries waiting to ripen.

Shannon F. Cantrell recently moved to Portland after attending the Floral Design Institute. Shannon’s mother, Shari, owns her own floral shop in the Tri-City, Washington and floral design has been in her family for years.
