This fantastic design created by Shannon F. Cantrell was titled Hanging by a Thread.  Indeed this entire structure was built upon single piece of found driftwood and suspended from a single (steel) thread.  The delicate and complex design was carefully woven together using the lightest of binding materials.  Notice the threaded miniature limes and kumquats and the fantastical hummingbird.

"The adventure of human life is tenuous at best.  The twists and turns often catch us by surprise.  Leaving us wondering, 'what happened” and “now what?'  The next time you find yourself “hanging by a thread” look up and remember to enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.  The new twist will lead to an even better opportunity ahead – once you open your eyes and see it."

Shannon F. Cantrell moved to Portland after graduating from the Floral Design Institute.  She is currently working at Old Town Florist in the Heathman Hotel.  Her life is filled with a love and passion for flowers.  Shannon has chosen the medium of flowers to share her passion with others.
