The lovely creamy white petals and the luscious fragrance of the gardenia make this blossom the perennial favorite of brides.  But, if you have ever worked with the Gardenia blossom, you know that they can be very difficult to work with.  If you touch the blossom with you bare hands it will turn brown.

Because of tricky nature of the Gardenia many floral designers choose to use them only in simple designs or avoid them all together.  Given their beauty, this is tragic.  Many years ago a very courageous floral designer and friend, Richard Calhoun AIFD showed me a technique for making a composite gardenia bouquet.  Buy some gardenias and practice this design.  Master this design and you will be the favorite of brides.   Richard passed away in 1996.  He would be delighted to know that that his design has not been forgotten.
